Review: Under the Never Sky

Under the Never Sky
by Veronica Rossi
Published Jan 2012
374 pages

Description from Goodreads:

Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

Review:

Over the last year I have fallen in love with dystopian novels. Under the Never Sky highlights everything that makes this genre so captivating. I was hooked by the first chapter. Aria lives her life within the dome where nearly everything is done virtually. After a night gone wrong Aria is unjustly thrust from the only world she has ever known into the un-domed world. Aria is an amazing character. Even though she is alone and terrified her inner strength shines through as she makes her journey through the new world.  All of the characters were really well developed, Perry is definitely swoon-worthy.  Aria and Perry’s budding romance is super sweet and builds slowly through the novel. I really can’t think of any negatives about Under the Never Sky except the wait for the second book! This is a story you can get lost in. I wanted to read it quickly to know what happened but I also didn’t want the book to end J

So what’s the bottom line?

Read, read, read!!!!!! Under the Never Sky is an enthralling read with a few surprises and a sweet love story. This is truly a great debut novel from Veronica Rossi and I cannot wait to read what comes next.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ = awesome book- a must read!
